Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement

“Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”
                     -George Washington Carver
Education is what is going to get you far in life. In this world education is the greatest power you can have. Education is success. In my opinion this statement is true. I agree with one hundredth percent. I think this quote means that education is what open doors to you. No one can take away your education. With education you can do what you want to do. For example a person with a master degree can get farther in life than someone working in a fast food place that dropped out of college. Education is great! You should always continue your education, because your education is something that is going to open many doors for you .

Student Responsibilities (part 1)

Student Responsibilities

Part 1

Students have the right to seize the responsibility for their own destiny and should be encouraged to do so. With every right comes responsibility.

1.    I have the responsibility to come to every class prepared to listen, to participate, and to learn.

2.   I have the responsibility to read the text carefully, nothing important ideas and rephrasing concepts in my own words.

3.   I have the responsibility to work examples in then textbook and those given in class.

4.   I have the responsibility to consult other students, the teacher an assistant, and other resources whenever I need the extra help.

5.   I have the responsibility to understand that the teacher is not primarily responsible for making me understand, but that it is my job to study and to learn.

6.   I have the responsibility of keeping an open mind and trying to comprehend what the teacher is trying to get across.

Student success statement

Student Success Statement
“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”
                                                    -Theodore Hesburgh

In my opinion this quote is right. Most of the people make decisions because there friends make the same one. Other people make decisions because they feel and know they are right.  I also think we shouldn’t make decisions that are easy, you should challenge yourself. You also shouldn’t make a decision because of what others say do what you think is right!

Student Success Statement
Decisions Determine Destiny”
                                    -Thomas S. Monson

This statement states that your destiny is based on the decisions you make. Make good decisions you have a good future. As you go through life the choices you make, make your next step of life. There for make good decisions and think twice before making them because it will determine your destiny.

Successful student part 2

Successful Student
                                    Part 2
4. Successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.
Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals-in short, you’re teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable players on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!
5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning. Students want the best seat available for their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational dollars. Students who sit in the back cannot possibly be their teacher’s teammate (see no.4).

I am not bound to win, I am bound to be true. I must stand with him while he is right, and part of with him when he goes wrong. “
                                                       -Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln is a man known to say the best words. In this quote he is trying to say that staying true is the right not winning. It is better to stand by someone who is right than with someone who is wrong, but don’t leave anyone who is wrong alone. You should stay by someone who is wrong to help them be right.

Successful Students

   Successful Students
                                                     Part 1

Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes and behaviors as well as intellectual capacity. Successful students:

1. Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it!

Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you  make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or, you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.

2. Successful students have educational goals. Successful students have legitimate goals and  are motivated by what they represent in terms of career.

Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”
    -Benjamin Franklin

In other words this quote is trying to say that what is on the outside does not matter, but what is in the inside (your heart) is what really matters. Beauty, strength, and richness aren’t important them compared to a good heart are nothing. Beauty, strength, and richness come and go and are pointless, but a right heart is there to stay and priceless.

characteristics of a Successful Student

                Characteristics of a
                Successful Student

Many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the educational environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begins and ends.

Most instructors know what a good student is – and is not. For one thing, a good student is not necessarily the most intelligent individual in the class.

The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This list is a description of what a hard-working student does and what a teacher likes to see. By learning these characteristics, you may better understand the day-to-day and class-to-class behavior of successful students. The idea is to provide you with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student.

1. Successful student attends classes regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session, they feel obligated to let the instructor know why before class begins, if possible, and their excuses are legitimate and reasonable. They make sure they get all missed assignments (by contacting the instructor or another student), and understand specifically what was covered in class. Successful students take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

        50 Habits of Successful People
                                                    (Habits44-47)
44. They don’t rationalize failure. While many are talking about their age, their sore back, their lack of time, their poor genetics. Their ‘bad luck’ their nasty boss and their lack of opportunities (all good reasons to fail), they are finding a way to succeed despite all their challenges.
45. They have an off switch. They know how to relax, enjoy what they have in their life and have fun.
46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, it’s what they do.
47. They are more interested in effective than they are in easy. While the majority look for the quickest easiest way (the shortcut) they look for the course of action which will produce the best results over the long term.

“Right is right, even if everyone is against it. Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it”
                                                                          -William Penn

This quote is trying to say that there will always be people trying to change your way of this, but it’s important to do what YOU believe in. No matter if the whole world is in favor of something wrong it doesn’t make it good. You shouldn’t do what others do. Nothing can justify something that’s wrong not even if everyone is in favor for it, and nothing can change something good to bad even if everyone is against it.

Boy gives gift

In this video I just witnessed, I saw a young boy named Ian that caught a baseball from the dimond backs game after another little boy had dropped it, and decided to choose the right by giving it back to the small kid who was crying for the ball. This little boy gave the whole world a great example of what choosing the right can do. He was awarded in national television with a better price. Just like Ian by choosing the right you can only get awarded and have a great feeling. CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!

Always reflects your actions first and things will come out better. By doing this there will be less mistakes and tragedies in this world. doing what is right . . .

“Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing”
                                 -Chick Moorman

In my opinion this quote means that choosing the right is what is most important. That if you do bad and win it is still bad, that whenever you do something good you feel better without needing to win. This also may mean if you do what’s right and fair you will feel better no matter if you win or lose. This quote always means that winning or losing isn’t important, what is important is choosing the right !

successful living part 4

             Keys to Successful Living
                              Part4
                             (Anon)

What is personality? The word “personality” comes from the root persona, which means “mask”. Our personality is a mask that we wear. We don’t have to wear a mask when we are by ourselves; we wear a mask to express ourselves to others. Our personality is a character, and that character is composed of certain habits. Each of us has numerous habits; so when we want to understand our personality, we should understand our habit patterns. A habit pattern is a conscious thought or action that one repeats again and again. This creates a groove in the unconscious mind and forms an unconscious habit. Unconscious habits are stronger than conscious habits. All habits patterns are self-created. When we sit down and try to understand which our habits control our life, we see that there are many deep-rooted habits within us.
Choose habits that will mold your personality into a super successful student and person.

“No man will ever be totally free who is living a lie “

Marvin J. Ashton
In my opinion I think this means that if your living a lie you’ll never be able to live with peace and happy . You will never be “free” as in free of guilt you will always feel guilty. You won’t be living your life you will be living a life in misery. This can be applied to help you choose the right and avoid of not living totally free. I personally am neutral I think this can apply in certain situations , but if you say what people call a white lie you will be able to live free , saying a lie does not disable you from living free . It is in everyone’s own mind set .

Successful Living

           Keys to Successful Living
                                                                  Part 3
                                                                  (Anon)

We should understand our capacities and potentials, and then we should express ourselves in the external world with full confidence, acting steps without any reservations. Thus there are three in preforming an action: first, forming an opinion within ourselves; second, expressing our opinion to others; and third, executing our opinion in action.

Understanding Habit Patterns
The main thing that one should learn in life--- and it is not taught in the home or in the schools—it is self-analysis. We should learn to analyze ourselves. If we really want to understand ourselves, we can analyze our personality by understanding habit patterns. This is not difficult. We should simply try to be consciously aware of every action we preform and realize that our actions are virtually our thoughts. Without thought there can be no action. Habit patterns and thoughts are revealed through behavior. There is a branch of psychology called behaviorism that is based on this concept. But one should understand that external behavior alone cannot reveal everything about a person.
